Bangkok Mall Hopping and Shopping for Affordable Fashion
There are a lot of places to see in Bangkok when it comes to shopping from markets and bazaars to malls, you will find an array of things to buy from affordable trendy summer clothes and accessories to electronics and skin care products. In our case, we shopped for fashionable summer clothes and did a full day of mall hopping on Day 4 of our stay in Bangkok.
From early on, during the planning stage of our trip to Bangkok, we had already decided to go mall hopping for shopping around Bangkok instead of spending time in street markets and bazaars. We thought that it would be too uncomfortably hot for us to go shopping in Bangkok’s outdoor markets though there were plenty to choose from.
Now, here’s a list of the malls we shopped in around Bangkok (mostly in Pratunam district) and my thoughts and tips about each of them.
Enjoy the Attractions and Shopping in Asiatique
There is an area in Asiatique where you will find outdoor stalls that sell varied items from fashionable clothes to souvenirs. The prices are cheaper compared to the ones you’d find in malls in other Southeast Asian countries but they don’t offer the cheapest prices compared to other shopping areas around Bangkok. Here, you can haggle with the sellers but more often than not the prices are already fixed.

Asiatique can be included in your mall hopping in Bangkok plans if you want some variety in your shopping experience. There are plenty of other things to do around Asiatique like riding a ferris wheel, dining in restaurants, strolling by the river, and other attractions for children. Honestly, I would go to Asiatique mainly for other activities but not for shopping as Bangkok has other malls and markets that would sell the same items for cheaper prices.
See a Variety of things to Shop in MBK
MBK is a mall that has stalls selling varied things from electronics to clothes, shoes, and accessories. And just like other malls they have restaurants that are worth trying like Ban Khun Mae, which I will share on another blog post. They offer better prices and allow you to haggle especially for accessories like pearls, gold, and silver. If you are looking for varied items, not specifically clothes, then I would shop in MBK.

Shop for Fashionable clothes in Platinum
This mall is a haven for fashionistas who are looking for affordable and trendy summer clothes, footwear, and accessories like bags, belts, and hats or caps. Among the three malls that we saw, Platinum offered the cheapest prices plus haggling is encouraged especially for bulk buying. The down side is that there are no fitting rooms which would have been nice to have if you are shopping for clothes. But for anyone who wants to do mall hopping in Bangkok, Platinum is often considered a must-visit for trendy clothing finds.

Discover Plus Size shopping in Krung Tong Plaza
Part of the fun with mall hopping Bangkok style is discovering specialty malls like Krung Tong Plaza. This mall is located right across Platinum mall and is conveniently connected by a pedestrian bridge. This mall is for those who are looking for affordable and fashionable plus sizes clothing and underwears. They have sizes beginning from XL to 5XL which gives you plenty of options to choose which size would fit you. They also encourage haggling and the prices lower if you buy in bulk. The downside is that there are no fitting rooms like in Platinum. But sometimes they would allow you to try their clothes if you put it on top of what you are wearing to check if the fit is good.
Shopping, especially mall hopping around Bangkok is part of the fun when visiting. I would definitely say Bangkok is probably one of the cities in South East Asia where you would find the cheapest prices for fashionable clothing and accessories. And for other fun things to do in Bangkok, you can check my other blog posts. If your travels ever include hopping from mall to mall, Bangkok offers some of the best options you’ll find anywhere.
